Welcome to the Mandelaverse, a space created by, and in support of, the Mandela Education Programme – an initiative to expand access to books and the Mandela Digital Learning Platform to children in Africa and beyond.

It is here that we will amplify voices, connect a global community through storytelling, and uphold the legacy, principles, and values of a revolutionary man.

  • What is an NFT?

    NFTs are tokens that we can use to represent ownership of unique items. They let us tokenise things like art, audio files, and collectibles. They can only have one official owner at a time and they're secured by the Ethereum blockchain – no one can modify the record of ownership or copy/paste a new NFT into existence.

  • Does Mandelaverse have its own nomenclature?

    • YES! See below for a list of words you’ll see us use interchangeably in our community. This list will continue to grow as our community dictates.

    • Citizens - What we call our wonderful community looking to lead with fairness, equity and responsibility.

    • Volumes - A Mandelaverse Collection ex. Madiba Genesis Volume I

    • Books - Similar to an NFT pack, this is a bundle that includes multiple volumes that gamify our collections. The goal is to collect as many NFTs from each Volume to create your own book. Keep reading below for more information on creating your own Book and the perks that come with it.

  • When will Madiba Genesis Vol 1. Mint? How many can I purchase?

    1,000 NFTs will mint on May 3, 2022 at a time yet to be announced. Only five NFTs can be minted per wallet.

  • When is Madiba Genesis 100 Minting? How many can I purchase?

    We have postponed the mint for Madiba Genesis 100 to September 2022. Connect to our Discord server (discord.gg/mandelaverse) to keep up to date on announcements. Only one can be minted per wallet.

  • How much will it cost?

    • The Madiba Genesis 1,000 Collection will mint at a price of .07ETH at a max of 5 NFTs per wallet.

    • The Genesis 100 Collection will mint at a price yet to be determined.

  • Will there be fees?

    All transactions on the Ethereum network require what is referred to as “gas fees” - think of this as a price to transact similarly to ACH fees when you transfer money. Gas is the computational effort required to execute transactions on the platform and the fee paid to miners for providing that computational power.

  • What Utility will the Madiba Genesis Collection Provide?

    • The MADIBA Genesis Collection is a must own Volume as it unlocks airdrops and rewards as we continue to release Volumes in our NFT Pack.

    • Holding any of the Gold or Silver Genesis 100 NFTs automatically grants you access to the Mandelaverse Gala and all future worldwide events. It also secures you on the reserve list for all future collection mints.

  • What will future Collections hold?

    • Each of the four planned Mandelaverse NFT collections are called Volumes. Each Volume of a collection is characterized by a defined content, trait or style, and will unlock different rewards and valuable airdrops to complete your Mandelaverse NFT Book (just like collectible packs).

    • Holding multiple NFTs across all four Volumes will give Mandelaverse Citizens the ability to bind their collections in virtual “book covers”. These book covers are specifically designed to express the contents of your collections. NFTs used to create these books will then be burned and only the completed book with all combined NFTs will be available in secondary.

    • What is an NFT Pack? / How do I create a Book?
    - A Mandelaverse citizen can create a book if they hold three or more Volumes (Vol I, Vol II, Vol III and/or Vol IV). A Book opens the highest level of Mandelaverse access and allows you to name a Mandela Education Programme Library in Africa after a name of your choosing.

  • How will I know if my NFTs are rare?

    • Rarity traits will be communicated first in our Discord.

    • Rarity will be accounted for through online partner sites like Rarity Tools and Rarity Sniper.

  • Financial Transparency

    Fifty percent of each NFT sale will go to the Mandela Family Estate. Funds will be distributed to the Mandela Education and Scholarship Programmes. The remaining proceeds will be used to generate new collections, manage operations, and build meaningful utility through partnerships, as well as connecting our community through physical and digital experiences.
